ABOUT LIZZIE

Elizabeth (Lizzie) Steele is a performer and arts administrator, with a range of experience spanning theater, circus, orchestral performance, and commercial entertainment. She feels equally at home performing acrobatic feats on stage as she does navigating a spreadsheet behind the scenes.

Lizzie is enthusiastic about multidisciplinary performance, with specific interests in innovative cross-genre programming, reaching new audiences, and presenting known works through new lenses.

Lizzie has worked in production and education roles for the John F. Kennedy Center for the Performing Arts, Spoleto Festival USA, Capitol City Circus School, and the Symphony Orchestra of Northern Virginia, a semi-professional orchestra based in Alexandria, VA. She is currently the Music Administrator for the NFL Washington Commanders Marching Band.

Lizzie brings an analytical approach to the creative from her academic background in engineering. She received a bachelors degree in Materials Science and Engineering in 2016 from Northwestern University, completed a masters degree in Engineering Science/Mechanical Engineering from the Naval Postgraduate School in 2020, and spent five years as an engineer in the U.S. Navy. After a serendipitous discovery of flying trapeze swung her into the world of circus, Lizzie shifted her career toward acrobatic performance and artistic event production.

Lizzie performs professionally as a hand-to-hand acrobatics flyer, on the flying trapeze, as a stilt walker, and occasionally as a viola player.
